I HAD A KID, AND HE'S AWESOME. His name is Elder Espinoza from Ecuador. He's 18 and HE'S A GREENIE for sure. He's kinda nerdy, but I love him. He is full of questions, and ready and willing to learn. A lot un like my old comp. Sadly, I don't have any pics of him, but for the next week. I thought for sure that I was just gonna get a normal comp, but the assistents called at 1040 to tell me, normally they finish at 1030. so that was a surprise.
I also got sick this week. I am 100 percent convinced that jungle colds are way worse than Utah colds. It is just humid and you're stuffed up and just can't do anything. But I'm getting better.
We have a family by the name of Cordova Lopez. The mom was baptized as a young woman, but has stopped going to church completely. We found her about a month ago, and she let us right in and we taught the restoration right there to their whole family. The dad is amazing. They've come to church 3 times in a row now, and are preparing for baptism for the 24th of this month. They have been a testimony builder 100 percent. To see that the Lord is doing His job by placing people in our path that listen. Just can't deny that. I cannot deny this work.
We had another cool experience as well this week. It was just one of those days when everything sucked. It was rainy, my feet were wet, I was tired and sick and all the appointments fell through. Great right? We decided to sit down outside of an investigators house for a second to get our thoughts together and set a new plan. There was a neighborhood that I didn't know very well, and I had the thought to say a quick prayer to help us be sensitive (sorry I'm forgetting english) to the guidance of the spirit, and to find SOMEONE who would listen to us.
We went knocking doors, and the first one we knocked let us in. She told us how she was divorced how she was confused about God and how the J-dubs really kinda rubbed her the wrong way. Pretty cool. We returned with a member and taught a real good lesson. I hope we can keep teaching her.
Family and friends, whoever is reading, I hope you can understand me when I say that this is the Lord's church, it is called in His name, and is ran by His servants, by His Priesthood.
Elder Roper
