Yo, Yo . . . It's Me Again!

Hello all! Another week down. This week was a little bit slower to be 100 percent honest. This week being the first week of the month, was Leaders Council. It's not that we don’t do anything, were just focused on other stuff and helping all the zone leaders who fly in for the conference and all that good stuff. So that was quite fun, getting to see all the boys that I don’t see every day. Elder Regalado being one of them. Also in that pic with ihim, you can see my new shipivo tie that came in this week with the zone leaders from Pucallpa. I think its dope.
Part of leaders council is the announcement meeting. All the secretaries put their announcements together, and give them to the zone leaders, who will give them to their zones. It was kinda intimidating to do that but in the end all was well. I got a bit nervous hahah. That also meant we had Consejo de Misión, translated is Mission Council. Presidente Li, Hermana Li, Elder Ruiz, Elder Jacobson(APS) and Newell (sec personal) Macz (other sec) our 4thcomp and I got to just kinda talk about our roles in the mission, what is good, what is bad, and what we need to do to do better. I felt dumb, Presidente asked me a bunch of stuff that I didn’t even know. Hermana Li (she's just a burner, sometimes she has no mercy) kinda got on me, but the APs backed me up and reminded her that I'm new. But it was kinda fun. It is cool to have these privileges
This week I had to request a reimbursement for my strong box, it was getting pretty low. The process is kinda long, but it all starts with making a list of how much I have in the box. I count everything a couple of times and make sure that everything is exact. Everything was fine until I got to some coins. The record said I should have 49 and every time I counted it came out to 48. Couldn’t figure it out so I grabbed a 19 cent coin from my “uh-oh box” which is pretty much the ash tray I had in the truck. I was about to put everything in and call it good with 49, but I felt strongly “count it again, just be sure”. I counted a gain and it turns out I had one too many. I’m not quite sure how it happened, and it wouldn’t have been that big of a mistake, having 10 cents more, but it’s interesting to see that even in the offices the Spirit works in amazing ways to help us. Elder Egbert told me that it happened to him a lot as well. That’s why everytime someone calls me with a question or a problem, I tell them to wait and I just kinda think it out and wait until I feel 100 percent sure about the answer.
This week we got to do a service. We helped an (get this) excommunicated member who is in the process to be rebaptized and get married, paint his house. I realized that a painter is not a profession that I want to be.

Everyone says “oh elder roper está gordito” or ¨elder roper está gordando” which means I look fat. I honestly haven't gained any weight, I just think what is happening is my cheeks are coming back into form because im not sweating 24/7 anymore. Im really really trying to control what I eat and when and how and how much soda I drink. Soda is just too dang good sometimes.  But it is hard. I feel like being in the offices you get a little taste of what real life is like.
This week we were out smashin' doors, and we found a guy who told us right to our face that he was Atheist. And so we laughed and were like, "well can we share something with you?" Gave him the Plan of Salvation pamphlet and talked a bit and walked a way. Two days later still out smashin' doors, and were like hey lets go visit Wilson. (that’s him) so we did, talked some more about it and invited him to an activity to watch some videos about the Plan of Salvation. I didn’t get to participate in this activity, but my companions told me that he loved it, and that he wants to learn more. They also told me that he committed to go to church tomorrow. We shall see. Interesting stuff.
Last Sunday was nuts! We found a guy 2 weeks ago who took us in his moto. Of course he recognized us and told us that he should be on a mission. He dropped us off at the offices and we chatted a bit. My comp (Elder Chavez) is nuts, and told the guy to take his earrings out. So he did, and Elder Chavez threw them across the street. We set some appointments to visit him and we did. Sunday rolls around and we get to his house at 845ish to take him to church. He didn’t wanna get out of bed. Push comes to shove, Elder Chavez asked for a bucket of water, and dumped it on him to get him to go. He went to church, but we missed taking the sacrament. It was an interesting experience for sure. It made me laugh a lot. Hahahhahah elder Chavez is crazy honestly.
We found a scripture this week, (we being the office guys) in 2 Nephi, chapter 9 (which is a solid chapter overall) verse 39, which reads : “…Remember, to be carnally-minded is death, and to be spiritually minded is life eternal. “
That pretty much tells us that our mindset, or what we think of our lives, is our reward. It made me think a lot honestly. Good stuff - right?
We found out this week as well that all of our email addresses will change because of President Nelsons announcement. It is pretty much gonna be the same, just gonna take the "lds" part out of it. Pretty good stuff. Kinda annoying because that'll change things up, but we gotta do it.
Well, we just got back from lunch. I ate a chicken sandwhich. It was solid. I also tried a type of fish called “Paiche” I have no clue how to say it in English. It was honestly really good. It didn’t have a very fishy taste to it at all.
I think that’s all for this week. Crazy to see how fast February is going by… kinda scares me.
